The HL-2M Tokamak Reactor is China's largest and most advanced nuclear fusion experimental research device, and scientists believe it could unlock a powerful pure energy source.
It uses a powerful magnetic field to bind hot plasma and reaches a temperature almost ten times higher than the core of the sun, according to the People's Daily. Located in Sichuan Province and completed late last year, the reactor is often referred to as the "artificial sun", which generates intense heat and electricity.
The People's Daily said, "Nuclear fusion development is not only a way to address China's strategic energy needs, but is of great importance for China's energy and the future sustainable development of the national economy.
